These two team who belong to the same division, are about 100 miles apart from each other, one of which wears white and green and the other wears gold and burgundy have been producing an abundance of enthralling, dramatic and bizarre games for almost 70 years.
The rivalries between these two football giants started in 1933.Their first match saw Giants winning by a whopping 56-0. This laid the basis of this greatest team rivalries not only in football but any other sport as well.The decade of 40’s saw the Eagles dominating the rivalry. At one point it succeeded in eight straight games. These two teams have also been part of what is known as the “world’s most forgotten football match”.
On December 7, 1941, Japanese forces attacked Pearl Harbour around game time. While the first quarter was still ongoing, the announcer started sending odd messages calling government officials, cabinet members, army personnel and ambassadors to their respective offices in Washington DC. Consequently, approximately 3000 out of 27000 spectators left the stadium by the third quarter. The the Redskins won the game.

Other than that the two teams have also created many unforgettable memories. On such is “Body Bag Game” on November 12, 1990, where eight Redskins players were injured. The match was played at Veterans Stadium and was won by the Eagles by 28-14. The nickname came after Eagles players were caught yelling at injured Redskins players, “Do you need any more body bags”.
The two teams have met 160 times so far. Washington Redskins lead the series, 83-75-2. Eagles managed to defeat Redskins last time in 2014. Since then, Redskins are dominating this rivalry and have triumphed four straight match ups. This is the first time since 1985-87. So far Redskins have won 2 NFL championships and 3 super while Eagles are winner of 3 NFL Championships.
